Improve Employee Productivity
ECI has conducted many studies to enable organizations to increase employee productivity. By understanding the factors that lead to success in a particular role or group of roles and instituting the structure to support high productivity, organizations can quickly maximize the full potential of their people.
When misalignment of processes occurs, the system breaks down and employee productivity is likely to plummet. For example, if an incentive plan is in place to reward the achievement of sales numbers and not behavioral competencies identified for the position, you are unlikely to see individuals placing the proper emphasis on the desired behaviors.
However, if the incentive plan is altered to put 60% weight on achievement of the sales numbers and 40% on consistently demonstrating the competency behaviors, the organization has greater likelihood of observing the competency behaviors within its sales force, thereby increasing employee productivity.
While this is a simple example of system alignment, there are other factors that will apply when organizations strive to improve employee productivity. These factors include ensuring that coaching is directed at high performance behaviors, that managers know how to appropriately lead and motivate the high performance individual, and that the resources are present to ensure that the work environment supports success.
